Specializing
in the Preservation and Restoration of New England’s Historic Building
Since 1977
• 27 YEARS HISTORIC RESTORATION EXPERIENCE. Since
1977, Early New England Restorations, Inc. has rescued, moved, restored
and preserved 17th, 18th and 19th Century buildings all over New England
and New York. Based in Stonington, Connecticut, we offer a complete line
of reconstruction and project management services. These include restoration
of existing buildings, dismantling and relocation of historic structures,
and the reproduction of any period building or its components. We maintain
a full-time staff of experienced restoration woodworkers, and tap a large
regional network of stonemasons, plasterers, blacksmiths, painters, wood
carvers and specialty sub- subcontractors. We also offer the finest architectural

27 YEARS HISTORIC RESTORATION TRACK RECORD. Early New
England Restorations, Inc. has completed thousands of projects, restored
over 150 early houses, buildings, and barns, dismantled and moved over
50 structures in the six New England states, as well as New York, Colorado
and California. We have been featured on the TV program THIS OLD HOUSE
for our relocation and restoration of the Stratton Tavern, (see picture),
and we have been the subject of numerous articles, such as those that
have appeared in the magazines Architectural Digest, House and Gardens,
Early American Life, and Gourmet, to name a few.
• 27 YEARS ANTIQUE MATERIALS INVENTORY. We can
complete projects smoothly and without unnecessary delay because Early
New England Restorations, Inc. has amassed a large warehouse stocked full
of 17th, 18th and 19th Century authentic building materials. These include
original wide board floors, hand-hewn beams, timbers and sheathing, hand-made
bricks and facing stones, hand-forged wrought iron hardware, doors, paneling
and antique hand-blown glass. Our warehouse is located in Pawcatuck, CT,
where we also have entire 18th and 19th Century buildings in stock, professionally
dismantled and ready to be relocated. We have a full inventory of 18th
and 19th Century floors, numbered and ready to be installed. Our antique
materials inventory is among the largest and most complete in the business.
• 27 YEARS ANTIQUE MATERIALS REPRODUCTION. If we
don’t have the period item in our inventory, we make it. We own
and operate a 10,000 square-foot Architectural Millwork Shop, also located
in Pawcatuck, CT. We keep hundreds of historic molding profiles on hand
to insure each project has the correct look and feel of the period we
are working in. We manufacture historic sash and windows, raised-feathered
panel walls, wainscot and exterior entranceways, 17th, 18th and 19th Century
doors, kitchens, libraries, cupboards and staircases. Each and every item
in the inventory is created in reference to original 17th, 18th or 19th
specifications.
• 27 YEARS IDENTIFYING SPECIALTY SUBCONTRACTORS.
Early New England Restorations, Inc. can restore your building, and do
it with the best local talent available because for 27 years we have personally
identified and worked with a network of specialty craftsmen/subcontractors.
Our subcontractors have been carefully selected for their skills and their
understanding of historic structures. They are at our disposal for any
historic project—large or small, simple or complicated. This network
is in place in every state in New England.
• 27 YEARS HISTORICAL RESTORATION INTEGRITY. Since
1977, Early New England Restorations, Inc. has earned a well-deserved
reputation for achieving a high level of accurate, architectural integrity
based on quality workmanship and attention to historic detail. We take
no short cuts: Using time-honored joinery, all work is mortised and tenon
and pegged. We are what our name says we are. And yet, while we re-create
the best 17th, 18th or 19th Century facsimiles, we also know how to build
into a project all the modern conveniences of the 21st Century—without
their visible signs. We blend modern technology with tradition, offering
the highest levels of comfort and efficiency.
• 27 YEARS HISTORICAL RESTORATION QUALITY AND ECONOMY.
Early New England Restorations, Inc. offers the highest quality product
for the most cost-effective price. We can do this because of our long
track record in the trade, our talented, trained and experienced staff,
our accessible inventory and manufacturing capabilities, as well as our
local area network of specialty craftsmen and subcontractors. There are
no short cuts or substitutes for this level of achievement: Your pocketbook
is the ultimate beneficiary.
